Few hobbies seem to be more forgotten than gardening when it comes to the winter holiday season, since most gardening gifts will inevitably lay dormant until March. However, presents given during the holidays can still bring joy to your beloved gardener when they're taken out of the garage or shed when the weather starts to warm. With this in mind, here are five perfect stocking stuffers for the gardener in your life.

Wildflower Seed Mixes

Wildflower see mixes are one of the most giveable gifts there is, since it's nearly foolproof. Wildflowers are very hardy and grow all across the US, so they'll find a home anywhere they can be grown, such as flower gardens or on the periphery of vegetable patches. These variety-filled packets of seeds offer a bunch of different flowers, and they're very easy to plant and grow, only requiring a rake and a half hour or so of time.

Trowels/Hoes

If you know a gardener who has gone through eight cheap plastic trowels in the past two seasons, then a sturdy, metal tool is the way to go. A high quality trowel or hoe is something that some gardeners may want but never buy for themselves, so finding one in their stocking will definitely be a welcome sight.

Monogrammed Stakes

Stakes are another item that many gardeners will find forgettable, but that's mostly due to the fact that the common types are made of cheap plastic or wood and are thrown away season after season. However, a high-quality set made of polished wood or metal will become a cherished mainstay in your friend or family member's garden for years to come.

Gloves

Gardeners tend to blow through gloves like guitarists blow through a pack of strings or cars blow through oil changes. Therefore, a large pack of high-quality gloves will impress any gardener. Look for ones that feature a waterproof design and a durable cotton or Kevlar lining to keep thorns and sticks from poking through and stabbing the hands within the gloves.

Kneeling Mat

A common problem among gardeners is inevitably getting dirt on the knees of their pants while gardening, which can be a pain to launder and can even ruin your clothes in darker soils. A kneeling mat solves this problem, can be easily personalized, and can be rolled up and stuffed into a stocking or small package for a thoughtful, useful stocking stuffer.
